Yangon Station, Myanmar

The original part of this 3 storey masonry building is believed to have been constructed in 1896 by the British and has subsequently been extended/renovated several times. The original purpose of the building was to serve as a headquarters for the Burma Railways Company.

  • On-site observations of the building structure and the condition of the main loadbearing clay brick masonry perimeter and internal walls
  • Determination of masonry wall cross section using destructive and non-destructive methods
  • Determination and investigation of structural ironwork and steelwork members
  • Conduct in-situ bed joint shear tests at discrete test location and extract multiple brick and mortar samples for laboratory analysis
  • Conduct in-situ deformability test and in-situ compression test of masonry
  • Conduct anchor pull-out and shear tests of chemically installed anchors
