Former Municipal Building is built in a simplified Renaissance style and is a two-storeyed with a more prominent separately roofed block over the Assembly Hall section of the building. The building has superb townscape qualities enhanced by the newer Hawkes Bay Electric Power Board building of a similar scale and the highly eclectic Municipal Theatre.
The following was done on site:
- Carry out in-situ bed joint shear tests on the exposed masonry surfaces
- Extract samples from the superstructure of the building
- Laboratory sample analysis
